Mobile IDX Sitemap

0

Having a mobile website for real estate is one thing. Adding IDX to it, displaying it correctly and optimizing for usability and SEO is another. Being of dynamic content and not readily optimized as a mobile URL, IDX needs to go through a few hurdles to have the Mobile IDX URL’s added to your mobile sitemap. It’s important that your designer understand Google’s policies for submitting a mobile sitemap. It is Different and has it’s own specs. Google Mobile sitemap uses the Sitemap protocol and has the addition of a specific tag and and additional “namespace” requirement. In addition, as Mobile speeds forward, Google states that the mobile sitemap will change. So keeping up on the newest trends and changes should be a daily activity as it is with WPIDX. Updates need to be readily implemented.

A sample of a mobile sitemap is shown below. The URL is not live, just a fictitious wpidx domain.

< ?xml version=”1.0″ encoding=”UTF-8″ ? >
< urlset xmlns=”http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9″
xmlns:mobile=”http://www.google.com/schemas/sitemap-mobile/1.0″ >
< url >
